At the age of five, Nikko Moy was pulled out of her regular
kindergarten class and put into a "special" class designed
to nurture children with an artistic propensity. By the
time she graduated high school, her talents earned her a
scholarship to the Columbus College of Art and Design
where she graduated with a BFA in Sculpture. Moy has
always focused on using all-natural materials--recently
this interest has drawn her to wool in all its forms,
not to mention other textile products and bi-products.
To Moy, natural materials have this feeling of hospitality
and encouragement. When she reshapes a material,
she changes it only enough to highlight its most attractive
feature(s). Her aim in making things is to trigger a sort of
instinct for playfulness and spontaneity.
When Moy is not making art, she is walking Logan Boulevard
with her husband, German Sheperd, and Pembroke Welsh Corgi.
