FROM THE INSIDE OF A PEEPHOLE GOURD
Gourd, Ink, Vellum, Glue, Light

Born and raised in Lakewood & Littleton, Colorado,
Rebecca Beachy grew up on a little petting zoo where
she first began to be curious about process, threat,
nests and cages, growth and decay, birth and
death—themes that have since become embodied
in most of her work. Furthermore, Beachy's firsthand
experience of the Columbine High School attack
has been a catalyst for thinking—interwoven in both
her art making and writing ever since.

Currently, Beachy is involved in the Art History Master's
program at the University of Illinois, Chicago where she
studies visual affects in relation to trauma—writing
about the images from the 1999 Columbine High
School attack and the visual culture in which
they are embedded.
