From October of 2004 until the Summer of 2009, The Splat Flats was a thriving community of Chicago artists,
working above L. Miller & Son’s Lumber Company.
The Splat Flats was founded and directed by Valerie Pell; however, Pell was graciously aided by Chelsea
Wagner and Angela Mobley over the course of those five years.
The Splat Flats was the artistic home for many artists, including Jeremiah Ketner, Robert McDade, Aliza Morell,
Danya Elbaridi, Anglea Mobley, Chelsea Wagner, Nadine Nakanishi, Steve Summers, Cassandra
Stadniki, Christopher Meerdo, Rebecca Beachy, Sarah Houle, Erin Johnson, and others.
As of the Summer of 2009, The Splat Flats as a community was dissovled because of the impending sale
of the L. Miller & Son’s complex. It is with a heavy heart that this is now the homepage of The Splat Flats.
Presently no studios are being rented under the name The Splat Flats--although space may be rented
in the future under a different moniker. For more information, contact L. Miller & Son's Lubmer Company for
more information.
Thanks to all the artists, art patrons, and Chicagoans for making The Splat Flats the premiere place
for working artists for five years!
